We invite you to participate in the Summer Academy of the Jewish Historical Institute, which will be held on September 26-27, 2020. The Academy’s basic edition is a part of the Oneg Szabat Program.
The Academy is addressed to teachers and educators who take up issues related to intercultural and interreligious dialogue, especially those interested in the Holocaust. Participants will broaden their knowledge of the history of Polish Jews and learn about valuable educational methods and practices useful in teaching.

The first day of the Academy will begin with a block of lectures on the history of Polish Jews during the German occupation. Participants will see the exhibition ‘What we’ve been unable to shout out to the world’ at the Jewish Historical Institute, as well as the publication Archiwum ważniejsze niż życie [‘Archive more important than life’] dedicated to the Oneg Shabbat group, which documented the fate of Jews during the Holocaust. Later in the day, participants will learn more about working with source documents from the Archives of the Oneg Szabat group and about the possibilities of using them in lesson scenarios.
On the second day of the Academy, participants will go to the Treblinka Museum, where, apart from visiting the grounds of the former German Nazi extermination camp Treblinka II, they will also have the opportunity to talk about good educational practices applied by the Education Department of the Jewish Historical Institute.
The Academy will take place on the weekend of September 26-27, 2020 at the headquarters of the Jewish Historical Institute of Emanuel Ringelblum in Warsaw at ul. Tłomackie 3/5 (on Saturday) and at the Museum in Treblinka (on Sunday).
